Are you passionate about film and television and curious about how things are made behind the scenes? The Creative Industries New Entrants (CINE) Programme offers an exciting opportunity to gain real-world experience and start your career in the screen industry.

Funded by the Department for Communities and delivered in partnership with BBC Northern Ireland, the CINE Programme aims to open access to the screen industries to people who are currently underrepresented. To be eligible for this opportunity, applicants must be aged 18 or over and meet at least one of the following criteria:
  • Be from an ethnic minority background
  • Have a disability
  • Be from a lower socio-economic background
The Camera Trainee will be placed on professional productions across Northern Ireland, including drama, feature films, and large-scale TV. You’ll support the camera department with essential tasks such as setting up monitors, managing camera equipment, preparing “sides” (daily scripts), and operating the clapperboard.

No previous professional experience is required, just enthusiasm, reliability, and a willingness to learn. Before your first placement, you’ll take part in up to four weeks of industry-focused training, covering topics like health & safety, camera equipment, and set etiquette.

Key responsibilities:
  • Support the Second Assistant Camera and wider crew
  • Help set up and maintain camera equipment
  • Set up monitors, wireless kits, and cables
  • Mark actor positions and keep camera logs
  • Assist with the clapperboard and battery changes
  • Deliver paperwork and support general camera operations
Essential Criteria:
  • A genuine interest in film/TV and behind-the-scenes work
  • Reliability, punctuality, and good communication
  • Willingness to follow instructions and work as part of a team
  • Flexibility to work in changing environments and locations
  • The right to work in the UK
Desirable Criteria (not essential to apply):
  • A full UK driving licence and access to transport
  • Any filming or photography experience (formal or informal)
  • Interest in technical camera work or content creation
  • Participation in taster sessions or workshops

We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and operate a Guaranteed Interview Scheme for disabled candidates who meet the essential criteria. Reasonable adjustments will be made throughout the recruitment and placement process.
To apply, complete the online application form and submit it by 1pm, Friday 25th July 2025. Late applications cannot be accepted.
