What is the Role? 

Care Assistant Role

This role is based in South Wexford, Hourly rate of €19 - €24 depending on qualification and experience.

What will be expected:

• You will provide a professional, high quality and safe service as an assistant to feed a young. adult with additional needs – you will be working as an individual under the guidance of the Liaison Nurse.
• Ensure that assistance provided within the home complies with the Speech and Language guidelines (training provided) in order to maintain the highest standards.
• Link in with the Liaison Nurse for regular updates or changes in feeding patterns.
• Participate in the review of risk assessments and report concerns.

What is Required?

• FETAC/QQI level 5/Social Care/healthcare assistant/care of the elderly qualification or equivalent; further training will be required but will be provided once additional HSEland modules are completed.
• These modules include the Safe Management of people with Dysphagia and the Introduction to the International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative
• Eligibility to work in Ireland.
• A strong sense of empathy, flexibility and to use your own initiative.
• Previous experience working with adults’ additional needs is not essential but would be an advantage.
• A Full Drivers Licence is desirable.
