Position: Care Assistants

Please note: The initial assignment will be within Children’s or Adult Respite Services. However, in line with organisational needs, this may be subject to change.

Employment type: Full Time

Aligned to the Care Assistant(Disability Services) pay scale.

Salary: The 13-point salary scale for the post as of 01/02/2026

€34,536, €35,677, €37,230, €37,745, €38,579, €40,201, €41,943, €42,550, €44,063, €45,195, €46,117, €47,152, €47,954LSI

New appointees to any grade start at the minimum point of the scale. Incremental credit will be applied for recognised relevant service in Ireland (Department of Health Circular 2/2011). Incremental credit is normally granted on appointment, in respect of previous experience in the Civil Service, Local Authorities, Health Service and other Public Service Bodies and Statutory Agencies.

About the Role

We are seeking compassionate and enthusiastic Care Assistants to join our teams across our children and adult respite services. As a Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting children and adults with disabilities, ensuring their comfort, safety and well-being while promoting their independence and dignity.

Note: Shortlisting will be based on the information provided on the application form.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality person-centred care to children and adults using our services, supporting their physical, emotional and social needs.
  • Assist with daily living activities.
  • Engage children and adults in recreational and social activities.
  • Foster a warm and supportive environment for children and adults, their families and colleagues.
  • Ensure adherence to safeguarding policies and promote the safety and welfare of all children and adults using our services.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to implement individual support plans and provide consistent support.

Requirements:

Applicants on the closing date for the competition must:

  • Possess minimum FETAC / QQI Level 5 in Healthcare Support, QQI Level 5 in Childcare, QQI Level 5 SNA or equivalent (Major Award).
  • Have up to date valid work permissions and eligibility to work and reside in Ireland at the time of application.
  • A genuine passion for caring for children and adults with disabilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Flexibility and a team-oriented approach to work.
  • Relevant experience in a similar care area is desirable but not essential. Full training will be provided.
  • A full clean driver’s licence is essential.
