Job Purpose

The postholder will work within the Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP) team, which aims to tackle and prevent fear of crime, crime, and anti-social behaviour.

The core objectives of PCSP are to support actions that:

  • Reduce fear of crime and actual crime.
  • Prevent and reduce anti-social behaviour.
  • Liaise with community representatives and Neighbourhood Watch Coordinators.
  • Work in partnership with key stakeholders, including:
  • Provide information, intervention, and preventative programmes.

The main objectives of the Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council PCSP Action Plan are to:

  • Successfully deliver the functions of PCSP across the area.
  • Improve community safety by tackling actual and perceived crime and anti-social behaviour.
  • Support community confidence in policing.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the PCSP Team in the delivery of the PCSP Plan.
  • Undertake agreed high-visibility patrols alongside the Community Safety Warden in targeted areas throughout the Borough, including public spaces such as town centres and parks, to help deter anti-social behaviour.
  • Assist with crowd management alongside the Community Safety Warden during nighttime operations in town centres, acting as a point of contact for patrons of the night-time economy and helping to ensure a safe environment.
  • Assist with the enforcement of legislation, including:
  • Assist the Council and other statutory agencies, including the PSNI, by recording and reporting incident data relating to criminal and nuisance activity affecting public health and safety, including:
  • Adhere to comprehensive safeguarding and risk management procedures and promote best practice in safeguarding and risk management across all relevant areas of work.
  • Undertake any other relevant duties as required that are commensurate with the nature and grade of the post.
  • Experience

    Applicants must have a minimum of one year's experience in each of the following:

    • Dealing with the general public.
    • Dealing with difficult people or challenging situations.
    • Handling complaints.

    Key Skills and Attributes

    • Ability to complete written forms accurately.
    • Excellent verbal communication skills.
    • Willingness to undertake training as required for the role.

    Driving Requirements

    • Access to a form of transport that enables the postholder to carry out all duties associated with the role, including working unsociable hours.
