TERMS: Casual hours will include weekends, evenings and seasonal event periods

OVERALL, PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
This is an exciting casual performance role within W5’s Creative Team, bringing W5 to life through immersive seasonal events, exhibitions and themed experiences. The role will primarily involve portraying characters and interacting with visitors in costume, including Halloween and Christmas character roles such as elves. We are looking for enthusiastic, reliable and confident performers who can stay in character, respond positively to different audiences and help create memorable, engaging experiences while maintaining high standards of presentation, safeguarding and safety.

This role is ideal for individuals seeking flexible, creative performance work in a unique visitor attraction. Training will be provided in W5 site procedures, safeguarding, health & safety and event-specific character requirements. Successful casual performers may be offered shifts across a range of seasonal events and exhibitions depending on role suitability and availability.

SELECTION CRITERIA
Essential Criteria
- Confident performing in character and engaging directly with members of the public.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to improvise and respond naturally to different audiences and situations.
- A positive, energetic, flexible and reliable attitude, with the confidence to perform in busy public environments.
- Ability to follow character briefs, scripts, direction, safeguarding procedures and health & safety requirements.
- Comfortable wearing costumes, make-up, wigs or masks for periods of time and undertaking the physical movement required by the role.
- Willingness to work variable hours, including evenings, weekends and key seasonal periods such as Halloween and Christmas.
- Previous acting, performance, improvisation, role-play, street theatre, immersive theatre or character entertainment experience.
- Creative flair, strong stage presence and an understanding of how to create engaging and memorable visitor interactions.
