Category Development Buyer

A position has become available in the Company for a 12-month Fixed Term Contract

Category Development Buyer (Ambient/Chill)

Based at Barry Group, Head Office, Mallow; reporting to a Lead Buyer, you will work collaboratively with the Buying Department and wider Barry Group Team.

As a Category Development Buyer, you will be working for the family owned Barry Group, where your growth and ambitions are supported.

Daily responsibilities and desired experience:

· Maximise the sales and profitability of the designated product categories for both the Company and its Customers.

· Develop and implement a successful Strategic Development & Category Plan that will maximise the market share for all categories.

· Build effective partnerships with internal Barry Group functions, its Customers and Suppliers.

· Successfully deliver, the sourcing and supply of products at optimum price, quality, and on-time.

· Contribute to the delivery of a profitable Barry Group Trade Activity Plan.

· Manage all operational, supplier/range/price, and promotional activity.

· On-going development and implementation of Category Plans.

· Optimize category performance, both operationally and financially.

· Development of long-term Supplier and Customer relationships.

· Manage Service Level on a daily basis.

· Comply with legislation.

Essential:

· Business Degree or equivalent.

· At least 3 years’ experience in a commercial function within a retail or wholesale business.

· Proven track record of delivering commercial results in a fast-moving data driven environment.

· Proven negotiation experience.

· Sound category management experience and a demonstrable ability to identify consumer trends and insights.

· Strong commercial acumen with ability to think strategically.

· Systematic problem-solving.

· Excellent communication/presentation skills with an ability to communicate appropriately to a variety of internal and external audiences and to all levels of the organization.

· Work on own initiative.
