Position: Catering Assistant

Reporting to: Catering Management

Contract(s) Permanent Full Time

Salary range: CATERING MARCH 2025 consolidated salary scales apply

Essential Requirements:

• Be educated to leaving cert or equivalent
• Have successfully completed a basic HACCP course i.e., Level 2
• Right to work in Ireland
• Experience in dealing with patients and the general public.
• Minimum of 6 months experience in a similar role in a hospital / hotel
• To have a positive attitude in everything he/she does in the course of their duties.
• Have a good command of the English language.
• Ability to carry out duties to a very high standard and within a set timeframe as detailed in the job description.
• Takes personal pride in reaching set standards and procedures
• Excellent team player
• To be very well organised
• To communicate effectively with patients and staff at all levels within the hospital
• Must have a positive customer focused approach in dealing with patients and the general public

Summary overview of duties (detailed job specification attached below)

• To assist in the preparation of food
• To operate in a safe and responsible manner with recognised techniques
• day to day cleaning of catering department
• To conduct deep cleaning throughout the catering department when required
• Serving food at ward level to patients
• Probing food and recording temperatures
• Food preparation and food presentation
• Following all HACCP policies and procedures
• To ensure that food hygiene and health and safety regulations are adhered to at all times
• Work efficiently and keeping calm under pressure
• Working on your own initiative as well as working with a team.
• Undertaking all mandatory hospital training
• Undertake duties in all areas of the catering department ie. pantries/diningroom/kitchen area etc
