Position: Catering Assistant

Contract: bank/casual basis, with hours provided on an as-needed basis in accordance with Irish employment legislation, including the Organisation of Working Time Act 1997 and all applicable employment rights

Salary range: HSE Consolidated pay-scale 1stFebruary 2026

Reporting to: Catering Manager

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

· Minimum 1-year experience working in a kitchen/catering

· HACCP trained

· Excellent communication skills

· Must be reliable and keep to schedule

· Can work as part of a team

· Fluent in English both written and oral.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate will carry out the following duties. Please note this list is not exhaustive and additional duties may be required but will be discussed in detail with the line manager.

JOB OVERVIEW

· Assist in the preparation and service of all meals and beverages for patients, visitors and staff to the required company standards.

· Preparation of patient’s trays and dining areas ensuring that the necessary equipment, utensils and food is available in the required quantities and at the required time.

· Clean and clear kitchen, dining areas and catering utensils using appropriate cleaning techniques and equipment as directed by the Catering Manager/Chef.

· Advise patients on menu choice in a way as to give maximum choice.

· Adhere to good practice with regard to hygiene, health and safety, HACCP regulation at all times meeting all legislative requirements.

· Assists with record keeping as directed by Catering Manager/Chef.

· Carry out other duties as directed by the line manager.

· Successful candidate will be required to work in all areas of the Catering Department - kitchen, wards, canteen & hospitality.
