Catering Assistant

Overview of role:

Working within the main kitchen of the Hospital, the catering assistant will provide assistance in all aspects of preparation, cooking and storing of food for patients, staff and visitors in addition to cleaning duties associated with the provision of a high quality catering service.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

To assist in preparation and cooking, to portion, store, dispatch and serve food and beverages to residents, staff and visitors as directed.

To clean equipment and associated areas of work in accordance with cleaning schedules using recommended detergents, to leave kitchen and service area spotless at the end of the shift.

Adhere to good practice with regard to hygiene, health and safety and HACCP.

Working effectively within the Kitchen Team to ensure high customer service standards

Minimising waste, improving waste reduction

Ensuring that all food production is in line with high food standards.

Assist with record keeping as directed by Catering Manager/Chef.

Carry out other duties as directed by line Manager.

Qualifications & Experience:

Previous experience working within a similar environment is advantageous.

The ability to work on your own initiative in a fast paced environment.

Work effectively as part of a team.

Effective interpersonal and communication skills are essential
