Purpose of the Role:
The role of the CSSD Operatives is to assist the CDU/EDU team in the delivery of a high quality decontamination service to the hospital, under the supervision of the Decontamination Manger, Deputy Manager and or Supervisor in the CDU/EDU. His/her primary role is to assist in the provision of sterile and/or high level disinfected instruments, endoscopes, procedure packs and materials to Theatres, Wards and Departments in a timely manner for use during clean and/or sterile procedures.
The CSSD Operatives will be directed on a daily basis under the supervision of Decontamination Manager / CDU Deputy / CDU Supervisor in relation to duties and responsibilities associated with service delivery for that day. The management team will decide which area or duties they will allocate to the CDU Technician for that day or part thereof. The CSSD Operative must ensure confidentiality for all patients and maintain and promote good working relations with all users of the CDU/EDU service.
Essential Criteria:
· Leaving Certificate / a qualification equivalent to that of a national awarding body.
· A minimum of 1 years’ experience in a Healthcare Setting.
· Knowledge of HSE Standards and Recommended Practices for Central Decontamination/Endoscopy Units.
· Candidates must hold a certificate in Decontamination and are required to submit a copy with application for post (online course accepted)
