New entrants will commence on Point 1 of the relevant salary scale, in this case the starting salary will be €795.52. Please click here for further information on our salary scales.”The role of the checkpoint guard is an integral part of the security operation in the Currency Centre. This involves manning the checkpoint, carrying out patrols, visitor/contractor management, searches, access control, CCTV monitoring, responding to alarms, incidents etc. The checkpoint guard ensures that the buildings and grounds are only accessed by approved persons and that the staff and assets of the Bank are protected.Responsibilities:
  • Ensure visitors are managed and ID checked.
  • Monitor and control pedestrian and vehicular access and egress. All vehicles and pedestrians must undergo ID verification and search when entering and exiting the site.
  • Escort visitors and contractors as appropriate.
  • Administrative duties including daily logs, incident reporting etc.
  • CCTV monitoring.
  • Search and X-Ray.
  • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The checkpoint Guard must be familiar with the SOPs for the site and adhere to same at all times.
  • Two-way communications. The use of two-way radios (and phones) is an integral part of the day-to-day tasks of the Checkpoint Guard. He must have a working knowledge of both and excellent voice procedure. 
  • Perform other security duties as they arise – patrols of perimeter, door checks –lock ups, first responder, etc.
Requirements:
  • At least 5 years’ experience in the Security Industry working in an operational environment and a PSA licence would be an advantage, but not essential. The successful candidate would be expected to undergo training and upskilling relevant to the role of checkpoint guard.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to capture relevant data on spreadsheets such as visitor and contractor register, CIT details, ID badge issuance, incident reports, etc.
  • Understanding of the operation of access control equipment (barriers, doors, etc).
  • Experience in the operation of two way radio and intercom (Stentafon® system).
  • Experience in the operation of x-ray equipment.
  • Strong communication skills through written, electronic and visual means and oral communication, in both informal and formal situations, with both internal and external stakeholders. The checkpoint Guard is very often the first, last and sometimes only Security point of contact for visitors, contractors, and staff. It is imperative that he portrays a professional and courteous image of the Bank and Division.
  • Ability to work as part of a team - The Security Division must operate with a strong commitment to teamwork. It is essential that the Checkpoint Guard is able to play an active part in the team. The successful candidate should be able to collaborate and share with his colleagues and respect them at all times.
  • Strong cognitive skills - there is a suite of Standard of Operating Procedures and Technical Controls which need to be complied with and constantly enforced. This requires the cognitive ability to be able to remember required tasks and technical operations instantly. There is not always time to consult scripts or seek advice from colleagues.
  • Flexibility - The role of the Checkpoint Guard requires flexibility and adaptability in order to deal with evolving situations.
  • Situational Awareness- it is imperative that the Checkpoint Guard remains attentive in order to note and respond to changing situations.
Alertness - The Checkpoint Guard works an 8 hour shift.
