The Mount Charles Group is recruiting for a talented and enthusiastic Chef Manager to join its catering team at Riverhouse Private Care Home in Newcastle, Co Down. At Mount Charles we are passionate about food, and we believe that good food really has the power to bring everyone together. Working Pattern: 
  • 36 Hours per Week 
  • £14.50 per hour 
  • 4 days out of 7 days (as and when needed)

The Role: 
  • Reporting to the Operations Manager 
  • Planning, Preparation, and presentation of all meals served at the required time, adhering to the service level agreement and to the client, customer and Company satisfaction 
  • Adhering to special dietary requirements, paying particular attention to allergens 
  • Assist to control and monitor financial performance of the unit to pre budgeted targets 
  • Purchasing and stock control in accordance with company suppliers 
  • Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene of the unit to required standards 
  • Ensuring completion of due diligence records in line with Food safety policies 
  • Preparation of any hospitality catering as required, some of which may occur outside of normal working hours 
  • Take all necessary steps to ensure maximum security of the kitchen and any other areas under Mount Charles control 
  • To attend meetings or training courses as requested 
  • Preparation of residents daily meals 
  • Working as part of the team to maintain and deliver excellent service 
The Person: 
  • Minimum Level 3 award in Food Safety and Catering or equivalent. 
  • Good communications skills 
  • Ability to adhere to all health & safety practices 
  • Strong team management skills 
  • High levels of personal hygiene and appearance 
  • The ability to prioritise and have an eye for detail 
  • The ability to delegate effectively to the team
  • Basic statutory training for the role will require all candidates to have basic reading, writing, speaking and listening skills to assist in understanding safety and work instructions and communicating with customers on a day-to-day basis. The post also requires proficient skills in computer literacy.
