Chemical Compliance Specialist

Reports to: Chemical compliance business partner

Supporting our buying, quality and internal stakeholder teams with a commercial and proactive approach with a focus on product chemical compliance, that ensures Primark’s products are compliant with the regulatory requirements in our trading countries

What You’ll Do

  • Under the leadership of the Chemical compliance business partner you will support with delivering our chemical compliance strategy, aligned to the quality strategy that ensures Primark is legally compliant in all trading countries and enables our future plans.
  • Implement agreed compliance processes in line with Primark's Product Compliance strategy.
  • Working with our buying teams and other business stakeholders to identify and share chemical product risk by market with a commercial & reputational focus providing recommendations.
  • Support the management of the Primark Product Restricted Substances List (RSL) for all retail markets
  • Support the business requirements for new markets, highlighting chemical issues by product type and ensuring commercial and proactive solutions to mitigate risks
  • Work with our QA teams globally and our global partners to develop a best practice compliance end to end process.
  • Be a representative for Compliance within Primark's supply base
  • Work with key stakeholders to drive supplier improvement and to ensure key suppliers deliver more value & service to Primark and are aware of compliance updates and issues

We are looking for someone who:
  • Holds min. a BSc degree in environmental science/material engineering/chemistry (or related field).
  • Has minimum of 3 years of professional experience in chemical regulatory affairs and product compliance, manufacturing, or in-depth technical understanding of relevant materials (e.g., leather, polymers, coatings, glues, foams, textiles) and production processes.
  • Can turn complex information into user-friendly guidelines; comfortable in reading and assimilating knowledge from scientific literature, standards and regulatory texts.
