There are a number of permanent whole time and 12 month fixed term contract posts in CHO Midlands Louth Meath. The vacancies are in counties of Louth, Meath, Longford, Westmeath, Laois and Offaly under the following Networks;

CHN1 - North Louth

CHN2 - North Meath & Ardee

CHN3 - South Louth/Bettystown

CHN4 - East Meath

CHN5 - Central Meath

CHN6 - Southwest Meath

CHN7- East Westmeath

CHN7 – Mullingar Central

CHN8 - Longford/Central Westmeath

CHN9 - West Westmeath & North West Offaly

CHN10 - Offaly (West, Central, North)

CHN11- East Offaly North Laois

CHN 12 - South Laois

Positions will be assigned a base in each of the above counties respective HSE Primary Care Health Centres and/or Home Support Services Offices.The successful candidates may be required to work in any service area within the vicinity as the need arises.

A panel may be created from this campaign for future Health Care Assistant – Home Support vacancies across CHO Midlands Louth Meath from which current and future permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full time or part time duration may be filled.

Purpose of the Post

The for Health Care Assistant - Home Support is a key member of Older Persons Services responsible for the provision of a quality service to support people in the community to remain in their own home as long as possible who would otherwise need to be cared for in residential care. Caring duties specific to the client will be identified by PHN/CRGN/CRT Team. Client specific duties will be defined by the Home Support Resource Manager in consultation with PHN/CRGN/CRT Team and client. Home Support Resource Manager will provide direct line management to all HCAs - Home Support, roster HCA - Home Support where required in conjunction with Home Support Resource Officer (HSRO).

The Person must at the latest date for receipt of completed applications for the post:

(i) Have obtained a QQI Level 5 qualification in Health Service Skills or equivalent Health Care qualification (Nursing/Social Care), incorporating a module dedicated to Care Skills/Support and a module dedicated to Care of the Older Person.

Or

(ii) Where a QQI Level 5 Health Service Skills/equivalent Health Care Qualification course is underway inclusive of the modules Care Skills/Support and Care of the Older Person, itmust be completed within 12 months of taking up position.

And

(iii) Relevant experience as a care giver in Acute or Community setting.

In relation to paragraph (ii) above, the successful candidate will, pending the attainment of the required qualification, be appointed to a Specified Purpose Contract. On successful completion and attainment of the relevant qualification successful candidates will be appointed into a Contract of Indefinite Duration.

A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.
