Cleaner

Location Appointment is to the Louth and Meath Education and Training Board. The successful applicant’s first assignment will be to any location within LMETB, including schools.

Reporting/Accountability Relationship Cleaner will report to Principal/Deputy Principal/Centre Head

Salary Salary Scale and Conditions of Service will be in accordance with the regulations of the Department of Education and Skills.

Health and Character Those under consideration for a position may at the discretion of the employer be required to complete a health and character declaration and a Garda Vetting Form. References will be sought. Below is a list of weekly duties some of which you as a cleaner may be asked to carry out. The extent of the duties may vary depending on the hours allocated to a particular cleaning position. (This list is indicative but not exhaustive). • Clean all student and staff toilets: This includes cleaning and disinfecting toilets, mirrors, sinks, cisterns, bowls, surfaces and floors. Replace toilet rolls and hand towels in holders as required. Ensure there is adequate soap in dispensers. Empty all wastepaper bins. • Clean rooms: This includes cleaning all sinks and wash basins, sweeping/hovering the floor, washing the floors, washing/cleaning whiteboard & sill, cleaning/polishing desks and chairs, cleaning all surfaces, window boards, radiators, door handles & door panels, cleaning glass in door, emptying bins and placing full refuse sacks in designated area for collection by Caretaker. • Tidy staff room: This includes washing out the sink and fridge, cleaning all surfaces, loading dishwasher and putting it on, hoovering/washing the floor, cleaning all surfaces, window boards, radiators, door handles & door panels, cleaning glass in door, emptying bins and placing full refuse sacks in designated area for collection by Caretaker. • Hoover and dust all offices. • Clean doors and windows at entrances. • Buff corridors. • Ensure all lights are off before leaving school building/area of work.

• Report any damage or breakages to Caretaker and leave any broken item out for repair/replacement. • Inform caretaker of any supplies to be ordered at least one week before they are needed. • Report to Principal and/or designated supervisor. • Report any misconduct to any teacher or to the Principal/Deputy Principal/Centre Head. • Any other duties as required.

These instructions may be changed/updated from time to time as the needs of the school dictates and following consultation.
