Job Summary

This position is for a Cleaner, reporting to the centre coordinator, or a designated supervisor. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that the centre environment is clean, safe, and well maintained for all learners, staff, and visitors. Flexibility is essential, as duties may vary depending on the needs of the centre.

Key Responsibilities

The Cleaner will be expected to carry out a range of cleaning tasks and respond promptly to any issues that may arise during the working day.

Duties include the following:

▪ Internal cleaning of the centre to a standard suitable for occupation by staff and learners

▪ Sweeping, hoovering and dusting

▪ Washing and cleaning of glass, furniture and floors as required

▪ Cleaning of wash basins and sinks

▪ Washing and drying of dishes in the kitchen area

▪ Cleaning, washing, and disinfecting all toilets as required

▪ Emptying of bins

▪ Reporting any health hazards or damage to school property or equipment in need of repair

▪ Setting the alarm code when leaving the building

▪ Adhering to the School Safety Statement

▪ Performing other duties as may be required and carrying out instructions given from time to time by the Supervisor, or other responsible officer

▪ Attending and providing cleaning support for special functions that may arise from time to time outside normal working hours

▪ Have previous cleaning work experience

▪ Have a clear understanding and knowledge of Health & Safety procedures, particularly in relation to cleaning duties and maintaining a safe environment

Person Specification

▪ Proven experience / ability to undertake cleaning duties

▪ Punctual, reliable and trustworthy

▪ Ability to work effectively and supportively as a member of the team

▪ Good interpersonal and communication skills

▪ Ability to act on own initiative, dealing with any unexpected problems that arise

▪ Good organisational and time management skills

▪ Flexible with the ability to deal with unexpected events and changing work activities

▪ Willingness to work flexibly and outside normal hours as required

▪ Willingness to undertake further training and development as required

▪ The successful candidate will also be patient, kind, generous and enjoy working as part of a large staff team with the best interests of learners, staff and visitors at heart

Eligibility to Apply

Candidates must, by the date of job offer, be:

▪ A citizen of the European Economic Area. The EEA consists of the Member States of the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway; or

▪ A citizen of the United Kingdom (UK); or

▪ A citizen of Switzerland pursuant to the agreement between the EU and Switzerland on the free movement of persons; or

▪ A non-EEA citizen who is a spouse or child of an EEA or Swiss citizen and has a stamp 4 visa; or

▪ A person awarded international protection under the International Protection Act 2015 or any family member entitled to remain in the State as a result of family reunification and has a stamp 4 visa; or

▪ A non-EEA citizen who is a parent of a dependent child who is a citizen of, and resident in, an EEA member state or Switzerland and has a stamp 4 visa
