Professional Relationships: The Clerical Officer will work in liaison, contact and co-operation with:

• The CE, Directors of Organisational Support and Development, Director of Schools and Director of FET;

• Line manager as appropriate (APO) and senior grades in the department to which he/she is assigned;

• Principals, Adult Education Officers, Managers and Coordinators throughout Cork ETB

• Staff members in the department to which he/she is assigned and other departments in Head Office;

• The Department of Education and Skills, SOLAS, and other departments, state bodies and external organisations relevant to the operation of Cork ETB;

• The Comptroller and Auditor General and the Internal Audit Unit – Education and Training Boards;

• Education and Training Boards Ireland and senior administrative staff in other Education and Training Boards.

Conditions of Service of a Clerical Officer are as determined by the regulations of the Department of Education.

Policy and Legal Framework:

The Clerical Officer will work within the framework of national legislation, procedures and Codes of Practice, in addition to Cork ETB’s strategy, policies and procedures.

Person Specification

Qualifications:

Essential:

Candidates must:

• have the requisite knowledge, skills and competencies to carry out the role. Competencies will be informed by best practice Public Appointment Service competency frameworks for the Irish Public Service;

• be capable and competent of fulfilling the role to a high standard;

• have obtained at least Grade D3 in five subjects in the Leaving Certificate Examination (higher, ordinary, applied or vocational programmes) or equivalent or have passed an examination at the appropriate level within the QQI qualifications framework which can be assessed as being of a comparable to Leaving Certificate standard or equivalent or higher or have appropriate relevant experience which encompasses equivalent skills and expertise;

• Oral Irish – Proficiency in the Irish language is desirable for these posts.

Desirable:

A third level qualification in any discipline e.g. a Certificate, Diploma or Degree would be desirable.

Skills and Knowledge:

Relevant qualifications or experience in the use of Microsoft, Excel, and other computer packages is desirable.

Garda Vetting:

• No applicant may take up a vacancy without satisfactory Garda Vetting clearance. If an applicant has not achieved Garda Vetting clearance by the time his/her vacancy is due to commence, the offer of employment will be withdrawn

Permission to Work in Ireland (Essential):

• All applicants must be eligible to work in Ireland. Non EEA nationals (unless exempted) must be in possession of a valid work permit, and must provide original documentation of same.

Salary Scales

€34,137 - €49,415 per year
