Job Summary
The purpose of this role is to provide high-level administrative support to Waterford and Wexford Education and Training Board (WWETB).
The successful candidate will assist in the delivery of quality services, in line with the organisation’s remit, working collaboratively with colleagues across WWETB and the wider community, including schools and Further Education and Training Centres.
WWETB is committed to continually improving the quality and effectiveness of its services and systems, spanning multiple functions including Schools, Further Education and Training Centres, Finance, Human Resources, and Corporate Services. The responsibilities of this role will support these efforts as detailed below.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe Clerical Officer plays a vital role in providing administrative support and ensuring the smooth operation of the assigned area.
Working closely with line managers and colleagues, the successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of services and the achievement of organisational goals.
- Undertake duties appropriate to the grade, under the supervision of the designated Line Manager, including administration support in Apprenticeship, Skills to Advance, and Business Engagement
- Assist in the development of administrative and secretarial systems to ensure effective operation of all assigned services within the Services to Business unit, including Apprenticeship, Skills to Advance, and Business Engagement
- Support management and staff in maintaining an effective administrative and secretarial system to process paperwork and input required information into MIS systems within the Services to Business unit
- Alert the Services to Business Manager to any service backlogs or other difficulties which may arise
- Communicate with customers and stakeholders in a respectful, courteous, and professional manner across face-to-face, telephone, written, and electronic correspondence
- Attend regular team meetings and undertake note-taking duties as required
- Participate in project teams seeking to initiate and improve services as required
- Perform administrative functions on financial IT systems
- Undertake any other duties appropriate to the post as assigned by the Services to Business Manager

Essential RequirementsCandidates must demonstrate:
- The requisite knowledge, skills, and competencies to carry out the role, in line with Public Appointments Service competency frameworks for the Irish Public Service
- At least Grade D3 in five subjects in the Leaving Certificate Examination (or equivalent), or
- A QQI qualification at an appropriate level comparable to Leaving Certificate standard or higher, or
- Appropriate relevant experience encompassing equivalent skills and expertise
- Capability and competence to fulfil the role to a high standard
- Minimum age of 17 years on or before the date of advertisement of the recruitment competition
- Previous experience working with client relationship management systems such as PLSS (Programme Learner Support System), ACSS (Apprenticeship Client Services System), or similar
- Demonstrated experience in administration in the workplace
- Previous experience in a further education and training environment
- High level of ICT literacy, including application of technology in the workplace
- Experience performing administrative functions on financial IT systems
- Excellent organisational, administration, and IT skills
- Ability to work on own initiative within a flexible, cooperative team structure
- MS Office skills including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Curious and willing to learn
- Ability to work under pressure
- Self-motivated, flexible, and results focused
- Ability to prioritise and manage work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Proven team player
- Goal oriented with a focus on completing work to a high standard
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Candidates must, by the date of job offer, be one of the following:
- A citizen of the European Economic Area (EEA)
- A citizen of the United Kingdom (UK)
- A citizen of Switzerland under EU–Swiss free movement agreement
- A non-EEA citizen who is a spouse or child of an EEA or Swiss citizen with a Stamp 4 visa
- A person granted international protection under the International Protection Act 2015 with Stamp 4 visa
- A non-EEA citizen who is a parent of a dependent child who is a citizen of and resident in an EEA member state or Switzerland with Stamp 4 visa
The starting salary for this role is €31,935 pro rata
