SKILLS AND PERSONAL QUALITIES NEEDED:
Good communication skills. A flair for customer service and the ability to build a good rapport with customers. Number skills, to ensure payments are accurate. A good knowledge of sports and of the products and services offered by the bookmaker. To be able to work effectively under pressure. Basic IT skills. To be alert and observant. Confidence, to handle difficult situations or troublesome customers.
In addition, betting shop cashiers need:
Leadership, negotiation and people management skills. Be well-organised and able to deal with several tasks at once. Business awareness.
Minimum of one year’s cash handling and customer service experience. Retail betting assistant experience is desirable. Interest in sport. Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Team Player. Computer Literate. Strong numerical skills. Flexible approach to working hours and conditions, must be available to work over 7 days per week. Ability to travel within allocated districts.
