What is the Role:
Enterprise Risk is recruiting for a talented risk specialist to help support and execute our Climate and Environmental (C&E) Risk management agenda to support its embedding as one of the Bank’s material risks and strategic pillars. The successful candidate will play a key role in progressing and embedding the C &E Risk agenda through participation in initiatives and programmes providing an opportunity to help shape and build our approach.
Enterprise Risk sits within the Risk function and is an independent, second line of defence team that monitors, controls and supports risk-taking activities across AIB. The purpose of the Risk function is to provide advice and guidance in relation to risk while providing independent oversight and reporting on AIB’s risk profile.
The Risk function’s main objective is to ensure AIB has a robust risk management framework and culture in place to ensure risks are taken within the risk appetite set by the Board, in support of AIB’s customer franchise and social responsibility.
This is a highly collaborative role with the opportunity to engage with Stakeholders across the organisation at all levels.
Key accountabilities;
- Developing and updating the C&E Risk Framework and Policy and enhance our risk management practices.
- Assisting the Head of C & E Risk, with initiatives to the integration C&E Risk into AIB’s existing risk management processes.
- Review C&E Risk integration into other risk frameworks and policies and work with stakeholders to develop and implement necessary enhancements where appropriate.
- Support Transmission Channel Mapping of C&E Risk across all material risks, working collaboratively with stakeholders across Risk and other departments to inform and input into MRA process.
- Provide SME support and input in respect of C&E Risk to the annual Material Risk Assessment.
- Evaluate local regulatory requirements and identify required changes or updates to AIB’s C&E Risk framework and policy.
- Collaborate with Chief Sustainability Office in responding to local regulatory requirements – assist in drafting responses to regulatory surveys or enquiries in relation to C&E Risk management practices
- Coordinate C&E Risk input required for external disclosures and develop specific approaches for the Group’s subsidiaries as necessary
- Contribute Risk input to broader firm wide Environmental and Sustainability strategic commitments (e.g., Net Zero, Sustainable Progress Strategy, TCFD)
- Develop training material for Senior Management, Board, forums, and global regulatory engagement
- Stay abreast of emerging ESG trends in Ireland, UK, EU and globally
