The role is tasked with ensuring Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services (OLH&CS) delivers safe effective evidence-based care, achieves regulatory compliance while continually striving to embed sustainable systems improvement to improve the quality of the care delivered across the hospice.
The role involves working with the Quality & Patient Safety Team, Heads of Departments and staff in OLH&CS to ensure effectiveness of care and clinical outcomes of patients are systematically assured at service and hospice level to inform improvement.
The primary focus of the post will be on supporting the planning, performance, assurance and governance of nursing effectiveness programmes of work and supporting a broader range of clinical effectiveness activities.
Essential Requirements
Qualifications:
- Be registered, or be eligible for registration with the relevant body i.e. Nursing with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Possess a 3rd level degree in a relevant nursing field.
Experience:
- Have a minimum of 5 years relevant postgraduate full-time work experience at a Clinical Nurse Manager 2 or above.
- Have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the role including knowledge of and some experience in clinical audit.
- IT skills relevant to the role and duties required for the role.
- Experience in project/change management.
- Experience in the professional development of staff
- Experience in the area of quality and safety management.
- Experience in the measurement of Quality, clinical effectiveness and the use of clinical audit.
- Have the clinical, managerial and administrative experience to properly discharge the functions of the role to include significant experience in managing staff in a health care setting
Desirable Requirements
Qualifications:
- Higher degree or postgraduate qualification in a domain relevant to quality and safety improvement, healthcare governance or equivalent.
Experience:
- Experience of healthcare quality assurance and improvement processes.
- Experience in writing reports and/or documents relevant to healthcare quality (e.g. policies, procedures guidelines.
- Experience in supporting staff in the use of healthcare data to improve patient outcomes and advance healthcare quality improvement
- Have a working knowledge of HIQA Standards, HSE Quality and Patient Safety Competency Framework, HSE Patient Safety Strategy, HSE Framework for Improving Quality as they apply to the role/care setting
