Clinical Engineering Technician, Senior

There is currently one permanent whole-timevacancy available in the Regional Seating Service (RSS), Unit 24/25, Doughcloyne Industrial Estate, Wilton, Cork, HSE South West. This is the main base for the service, which also has outreach locations in Kerry, North Cork and West Cork. A panel may be formed as a result of this campaign for Clinical Engineering Technician, Seniorfrom which current and future, permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full or part-time duration may be filled.

Purpose of the Post:

  • The Clinical engineering technician will provide technical support for seating and mobility related medical devices. The service works with referring occupational therapists and endeavours to support and advance patient care by applying engineering and equipment management skills to seating and mobility technology.
  • The Clinical Engineering Technician will work as part of the clinical team with occupational therapists to provide the clients of the RSS with the most mechanically and electronically appropriate match to their biomechanical complexities.
  • The Senior Clinical Engineering Technician will be expected to be involved in the direct provision of Clinical Engineering Soulution, so will be expected to have reasonable experience of seating and mobility technologies.

The post holder will:

The Clinical Engineering Technician will provide technical support as part of the multidisciplinary team to enhance the service provided to the clients of the Regional Seating and Mobility Clinic. The Clinical Engineering Technician will be responsible for technical operations in the engineering workshop environment. The post holder will report to Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist for clinical reporting, and to the Occupational Therapist Manager for operational reporting.

Post Specific Requirments:

  • Demonstrate technical knowledge and knowledge of evidence-based practice to carry out duties and responsibilities of the role in specialist seating and mobility setting.
  • Demonstrate the ability to use workshop machinery e.g. bandsaw, bench saw, sanders, angle grinder, electronic programmers for powered drive controls.
  • Demonstrate the ability to adhere to health & safety practices in the engineering workshop environment.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to assuring high standards and strive for a user centred service
