Clinical Midwife Manager, Maternity Services, University Hospital

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, University Hospital Kerry, provides comprehensive services for antenatal, intra natal, post natal mothers and their babies and also for women who require gynaecological procedures.

The Department is closely integrated with the Regional Tertiary referral centre at Cork University Maternity Hospital in respect of clinical standards and governance.

The Birth rate in 2021 was just under 1,300 deliveries.

Midwifery Staff/Managers allocated to the area rotate between ante-natal/labour and delivery and post natal areas to ensure continuing care and midwife competence.

Purpose of the Post

The post of Clinical Midwife Manager 2 has a pivotal role in service planning, co-ordinating, and managing activity and resources within the clinical area on a day to day basis.

The main responsibilities are: leading on the delivery of woman focused care, quality assurance, resource management, staffing and staff development, practice development, facilitating communication and professional / clinical leadership.
