Purpose of the Role:

The appointed person will be assigned within theatre department to guide and support all nursing staff. He / she will be responsible for planning, developing, organising and implementing and evaluating training programmes and nursing practice, using evidence based practice. Responsibilities will include the implementation of Standards for Better Safer Health Care utilising current research; they are aligned with international standards of best practice. He / she will demonstrate professional and clinical leadership as an educational advisor and facilitator for continuing professional development and training for nursing staff.

Essential Criteria:

· RCN/RGN with 5 years Post Graduate experience of which 3 years is clinical experience in peri -operative nursing

· Post graduate qualification in Peri-operative Nursing level 8 or 9.

· Experience in the Supervision of staff and students
