TEMPORARY FULL-TIME CLINICAL NURSE EDUCATOR & FACILITATOR (CNM2 grade)

Location:

The focus of the Corlann West is to support people with disabilities to achieve their full potential including living as independently as possible and to ensure that people with disabilities are heard and involved at all stages of the process to plan and improve services.

Currently Corlann West provides a wide range of services to over 2000+ adults & children across the region. Employee’s over 1900+ staff across 400+ locations within the region. The current service is Multi-disciplinary lead working in collaboration with the inter-professional team for example (Nursing Team, Advanced Nurse Practitioner, other Clinical Nurse Specialists, Social Care Leaders and Support Workers, Disability Manager/Service Managers, General Practitioner, Psychology, Autism Therapists, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker, Physiotherapist, Consultant Psychiatrist, Community Pharmacists).

The overall purpose of the introduction of a clinical nurse facilitator/ educator is to co-ordinate and facilitate the creation of a clinical environment that fosters professional growth and development of staff, through the delivery of high quality clinical education across the region. The role ensures that all staff—are equipped with the knowledge and skills to provide safe, evidence based care and confidence to safely support individuals with complex health needs. He/she will be responsible for planning, developing, organising and implementing and evaluating training programmes and nursing practice, using evidence based practice. Responsibilities will include the implementation of HIQA standards, Safer Health Care utilising current research in areas of health and wellbeing; they are aligned with international standards of best practice. He / she will demonstrate professional and clinical leadership as an educational advisor and facilitator for continuing professional development and training for nursing staff and support staff.

A key element of the care and support provided is the promotion of independence, and best possible health and wellbeing. Being inclusive and promoting inclusion for people with intellectual disabilities in assessing equal health care in hospital and community settings. The clinical nurse educator will be expected to embrace this vision and build and promote the principles outlined in establishing their service from a training perspective. The successful applicant will lead out on our quality factor group on promoting of health outcomes.

Role:

The Clinical Nurse Educator will lead, coordinate, and facilitate the creation and deliver of high quality clinical education and practice across the region that fosters professional growth and development of staff. The role ensures that all staff—are equipped with the knowledge and skills to provide safe, evidence based care and confidence to safely support individuals with complex health needs. A core focus includes epilepsy management, constipation prevention, basic clinical observations and other health related courses, all of which is aligned with national standards and service needs. The educator will work closely with Management, the Quality Enhancement & Training department to maintain compliance with organisational policies, HIQA standards, and evidence based practice. The educator will also collaborate with other key stakeholders such as senior management, families of our people supported & the HSE etc.

Sector Manager and Head of Quality and Enhancement& Development

Qualifications/Experience:

1.Essential Criteria

· Be a registered nurse/midwife (RNID, RGN, RPN, or equivalent) on the active register of nurses and midwives held by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais Na hÉireann).

· Candidates must have at least 5 years post qualification experience including a minimum of 3 years in a management role, gained in services for people with intellectual disabilities.

  • An appropriate qualification in Health and Social Care Management (QQI Level 6) is a necessary requirement of the post. If the successful applicant does not hold such a qualification, a commitment to obtaining the qualification prior to taking up the post will be required.

· Experience delivering clinical training to non-nursing staff.

· Strong understanding of HIQA regulations and person centred care.

· Candidates must have a full clean driving licence.

· Fluency in verbal and written English is an essential requirement of this post.

2.Desirable Criteria

· Teaching and assessing qualification and experience.

· Higher Diploma in specialist practice.

Working Hours:

75 hours per fortnight

Contracted hours will be based on a 7-day duty roster. It is envisaged that the successful candidate will work primarily Monday to Friday with contracted hours of work liable to change between the hours of 8am – 8pm. Some weekend work will be required. Contracted hours of work are rostered to meet the requirements of the service, to include days, evenings, weekends, public holidays, as service need requires.

Corlann’s model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures, requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each individual.

Annual Leave:

25 days per annum. Service Related Leave will be granted after 5 and 10 years nursing service.

Remuneration:

Department of Health Clinical Nurse Manager 2 salary scale (01/06/2026) - €62,699 x 9 increments - €76,921 per annum (pro-rata for part-time). Long Service Increment €79,227 per annum (pro-rata for part-time) is granted after 3 years on the maximum of the scale.

Tenure:

This post temporary full-time and pensionable. This post is linked to a permanent employee’s leave arrangement.

Probation:

A probationary period of nine months from the date of appointment applies to the post. The employment may be terminated at any time during the probationary period should the employer find that the appointee is unsuitable to continue employment. The probation period may be extended at the Employer’s discretion.
