Overall Purpose of the Role
The Clinical Nurse Manager will oversee the delivery of safe and effective clinical supports for individuals with physical disabilities receiving services from the Irish Wheelchair Association. The role involves managing and supporting staff, ensuring clinical governance and medication management standards are maintained, and supporting individuals to live independently through a person centred approach.
The successful candidate will work closely with individuals using the service, their families and advocates, IWA staff and volunteers, and external professionals including multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the clinical and medication management requirements of individuals receiving services.
Ensure all clinical tasks and supports are delivered in line with IWA policies and procedures.
Provide supervision and line management support to nursing and non nursing staff within the service.
Support and train staff to ensure they are competent and confident in carrying out their roles.
Promote a person centred approach that empowers individuals to maximise their independence and inclusion within the community.
Liaise with individuals using the service, families, advocates, IWA staff and multidisciplinary teams including GPs, therapists and other healthcare professionals.
Monitor service delivery through regular visits and provide on site support and supervision where required.
Ensure accurate clinical documentation and records are maintained.
Support quality improvement, health and safety standards and clinical governance within the service.
Manage operational elements of the service including rostering, supplies and equipment where required.
Person Specification
Qualifications and Experience
Professional qualification in Nursing.
Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) appropriate to the role.
Minimum of 5 years post registration clinical experience.
Experience supervising or supporting nursing and non-nursing staff is desirable.
Experience working with people with disabilities is desirable.
Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Ability to work autonomously and exercise sound clinical judgement.
A drivers licence and access to own car is a requirement.
Knowledge and Skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent problem solving and decision making ability.
Strong organisational and leadership skills.
Ability to build positive working relationships across teams and services.
Understanding of the needs of individuals with physical, sensory or communication difficulties is an advantage.

Salary range for this position is €34,856.57– €41,049.17 DOE
