Purpose of the Post:

This CNM1 position in Nenagh Hospital is 19.5 hours and initially the successful candidate will be the lead CNM1 working towards achieving JAG accreditation for Endoscopy Unit Nenagh. They will work as part of the leadership team which includes the local clinical lead, management lead and training lead for JAG accreditation.

JAG is a process of accreditation which ensures high quality care is provided to endoscopy patients. In order to be awarded accreditation standards set out by JAG have to be achieved. The role of the CNM1 Lead will be to provide evidence to support the department’s application for accreditation and demonstrate compliance with the standards.

The role will also include compiling and updating PPG’s to meet JAG requirements. Following completion of the Jag accreditation journey for the Nenagh site the CNM1 will then work with the Endoscopy Management Team in Nenagh .

The primary role of the CNM 1 will be one of clinical and professional leadership and development in the nursing team, including the development of advanced clinical skills by means of in-service training, orientation of new staff and provision of clinical support.

The post holder will have specific responsibility for the education; the development and implementation of policy and procedures, profession development and mentoring of staff to ensure staff meeting the required competency to deliver on the agreed standards for patients accessing care via the Endoscopy Department pathway.

The CNM 1 will be liable to work over a 5/5 period and reports to CNM 2/CNM 3 operationally. Overall reporting relationship to the ADON for Surgical Services at ULHG.

Responsible for the management, care and treatment of service users, to ensure that the optimum standard of care is provided within the designated area of responsibility.
