We are now recruiting Clinical Nurse Manager 1(s) for our Residential and Community based services. This is an exciting opportunity for Clinical Nurse Manager 1’s to step into a professional role, guiding dedicated teams to deliver meaningful experiences in line with HIQA standards and organisational values.
The primary role of the Clinical Nurse Manager 1(CNM 1) will be one of:
- Clinical and professional leadership and development in the team members, including the development, orientation, and supervision of nursing/non-nursing staff by means of supervision and delegation, local induction training/orientation of new staff
- Facilitating clinical experience and supervision of student nurses
- Play a key role in supporting the Person In charge (PIC), to achieve regulatory compliance and will deputise in the absence of the CNM2/PIC
- To be responsible for providing a high standard of evidence based clinical care and other supports to people we support (PWS), provided within the designated area(s) of responsibility

Salary: The 8 point salary scale for the post as of 01/08/2025.
€56,642 €57,669 €59,118 €60,592 €62,057 €63,532 €65,174 €66,705
New appointees to any grade start at the minimum point of the scale. Incremental credit will be applied for recognised relevant service in Ireland and abroad (Department of Health Circular 2/2011). Incremental credit is normally granted on appointment, in respect of previous experience in the Civil Service, Local Authorities, Health Service and other Public Service Bodies and Statutory Agencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Be responsible for the co-ordination, assessment, planning, implementation, and review of care of People We Support according to service standards and evidence base practice.
- Provide safe, comprehensive nursing care to People We Support according to the
- Code of Professional Conduct as laid down by the Nursing Midwifery Board Ireland (NMBI)
- Engage in continuing professional development by keeping up to date with nursing literature, recent nursing research and new developments in nursing management, education and practice, and to attend staff study days as considered appropriate.
- Exercise authority in the running of the assigned area(s) as required by the CNM2/PIC
- Provide the necessary co-ordination and deployment of nursing and support staff in designated area(s) of responsibility, ensuring that skill mix takes account of fluctuating workloads and ensuring maximisation of available resources.
Essential Criteria
- Nursing Qualification recognised by the Nursing and Midwifery Board (NMBI)(Registered Nursing Intellectual Disability preferred)
- Currently registered in the General Division of the Register of Nurses & Midwives maintained by the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland (Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hEireann) or entitled to be so registered.
- Have not less than three years relevant post registration experience.
- Have the clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role.
- Demonstrate evidence of continuous professional development (CPD).
- A full understanding of Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) regulations.
- Excellent interpersonal, organisational and decision-making skills
- A strong commitment to inclusion, advocacy and person-led planning.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- A full clean driver’s license is essential for the role
Desirable
- Experience of working in residential disability services
- Experience in managing challenging behaviour using positive behaviour support frameworks
