Purpose of the Role

The Cnm2 in Ophthalmology has had a direct effect on improving the quality of patient care. The post holder will have nursing responsibility for the care of children with Ophthalmic conditions The CNM 2 in Ophthalmology has a pivotal role in the co-ordination and manager of outpatients and services within the clinical area. The role of the Ophthalmology CNM2 will be a dynamic and developing role. The post-holder will need to be proactive in pioneering and developing this role in response to the challenges around the on-going healthcare needs of young people and their parents/careers. The CNM2 will also ensure that the provision of a high standard of care to the children and their extended family is consistent with the mission, vision, values and strategic plan of the hospital. In carrying out these duties, confidentiality surrounding the child’s admission and treatment must be maintained at all times.

Essential Criteria:

· RCN/RGN with paediatric experience

· 5 years post registration experience

· Experience of caring for children with Ophthalmic conditions

· Relevant post graduate qualification or willingness to undertake same
