Purpose of the Role

The purpose of this post is:

  • To provide clinical and managerial leadership to a designated nursing team and ensure the provision of high quality nursing care to infants and families within the neonatal high dependency area and ward cots on St Michaels B ward.
  • To assist in the safe, effective and efficient management of the department within allocated resources and to undertake delegated responsibility for the department in the absence of the CNMII.
  • To be a role model in coordinating and managing the specialist neonatal care required for those complex, medical, surgical and preterm neonates within the 6 bed Neonatal High Dependency Unit (NHDU).
  • To safeguard the provision of high standards of quality care to infants and their families consistent with the mission, vision, values and strategic plan of the hospital.

Essential Criteria:

Be registered on the Children’s Division and/or the General Division of the Register of Nurses & Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland;

AND

Have 2 years post graduate neonatal experience, proficient in the care of neonates receiving acute non-invasive ventilation;

AND

Have proven clinical and managerial ability, leadership, communication and organisational skills;

AND

Demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development at the appropriate level.
