There is currently one Clinical Nurse Specialist, Candidate post in the Neurology department Sligo University Hospital specialising in the area of Headaches. This position is a whole time permanent post

The successful candidates may be required to work in any service area within the vicinity as the need arises.

A panel may be formed as a result of this campaign for Sligo University Hospital from which current and future permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full or part-time duration may be filled.

Purpose of the Post:

The post holder will have a responsibility

• To develop Headache service in Sligo University Hospital in conjunction with the Neurologist
• To provide expertise and specialist nursing services to patients presenting with headaches and to their families both in the in–patient and out-patient setting.
• To ensure that neurological patients receive timely and appropriate care through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care delivery.
• To support patients and their families/carers in achieving compliance with treatment plan, self-management and optimising their well-being and independence.
• To develop and deliver evidence based education programmes in conjunction with members of the MDT to patients, their families/carers and the wider general public
