Clinical Nurse Specialist, Child And Adolescent Mental Health Services With Intellectual Disability

The purpose of the role is to provide support to the individual child/young person and their family and/or carer through the delivery of appropriate treatment and recovery orientated interventions in the community. In the community this will include: domiciliary visits, school visits, family support and liaison with other services. The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CAMHS-ID) will also work collaboratively with other nursing specialists areas within Cork Kerry Community Healthcare CAMHS-ID Services.

This post will support the National Mental Health Clinical programme delivery. The post holder will undertake clinical assessments, initiate a range of evidenced based recovery orientated clinical interventions and link closely with a range of statutory services in secondary and primary care services and with voluntary services in the local community. They will be expected to work as a member of a mental health team, undertaking standardised assessments and management along with assertive follow up involving families/carers as appropriate.

The post holder’s practice is based on the five core concepts of Clinical Nurse Specialist (CAMHS-ID) role as defined by the NCNM 4th edition (2008) in order to fulfil the role. The concepts are:
