Clinical Nurse Specialist | Community Palliative Care

Consideration will be given to 0.75WTE (28.12 hours)

- Based in Blackrock
The purpose of this post in is to provide Specialist Palliative Care (SPC) and on-going management to patients and their families/carers under the care of OLH&CS. The aim of the role is to provide for the seamless care of this patient cohort and will involve strong clinical component together with a liaison role with the multidisciplinary team (MDT), specialty services and community services as appropriate to the care of the patient and their family / carers. The CNSp will work as a key member of the Consultant-led Inter-disciplinary team providing physical, psychological, social and emotional support to the patient and their family /carers as appropriate to patient need.
Essential Requirements:
- Registered General Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI), or eligible to register with NMBI.
- Must demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development
- Must have a level 8 (or higher) National Qualifications Authority of Ireland major academic award relevant to specialist palliative care. (contact Interim Head of Nursing to discuss same)
- A full current driver license and access to a car
- Have at minimum of 2 years post registration experience in an acute/relevant healthcare setting
- A minimum of one years’ experience in specialist palliative care is desirable
- Have the ability to practice safely and effectively fulfilling your professional responsibility within your scope of practice
- Competent and confident IT skills - Word, Excel, Power Point and e-mail
- Evidence of consistent updating of clinical skills and knowledge
