There is currently one whole-time Clinical Nurse Specialist Infectious Diseases post which will be filled on a permanent basis in the Medical Speciality Directorate, Sligo University Hospital.

The successful candidate will work alongside the Infectious Diseases Consultant providing a service across Sligo University Hospital

A panel may be formed from this campaign for Sligo University Hospital from which current and future permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full or part-time duration may be filled.

Purpose of the Post:

The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in Infectious Diseases (ID) post will provide support to the ID in-patients and outpatient's service providing specialist nursing expertise in infectious diseases with the priority to advance the nursing services in SUH.

The role encompasses comprehensive management of infections such as blood-borne viruses, including HIV and hepatitis, as well as sexually transmitted infections (STIs), TB and the other conditions requiring ID input. There will also be a role in supporting the OPAT service. This will be in collaboration with the ID consultant(s) and team. This position is essential for ensuring the highest standards of care for patients requiring management of these conditions.
