Remuneration

The salary scale for the post is (as at 01/02/2026):

€62,078- €63,106- €63,975- €65,394- €66,963- €68,504 - €70,045- €71,779- €73,389 - €76,159- €78,443 LSI

New appointees to any grade start at the minimum point of the scale. Incremental credit will be applied for recognised relevant service in Ireland and abroad (Department of Health Circular 2/2011). Incremental credit is normally granted on appointment, in respect of previous experience in the Civil Service, Local Authorities, Health Service and other Public Service Bodies and Statutory Agencies.

Purpose of the Post

The post holder will have a responsibility

  • To provide expertise and specialist nursing services to patients with renal conditions and to their families both in the in–patient and out-patient setting.
  • Undertake comprehensive service user assessment to include physical, psychological, social and spiritual elements of care using best evidence-based practice in renal care
  • Use the outcomes of-nursing assessment to develop and implement plans of care/service user group management to contribute to the plans of service users, their families/carers and the MDT
  • To ensure that this patient cohort receive timely and appropriate care through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care delivery.
  • To develop and deliver evidence-based education programmes in conjunction with members of the MDT to patients, their families/carers and the wider general public.
