Purpose of the Role

The purpose of this post is to provide optometry services to patients of CHI including:

  • Participation in a multidisciplinary team of Orthoptists, Ophthalmologists, and Nursing Staff to deliver coordinated care to our patients
  • Responsibility for refractions and ophthalmic examinations
  • Performing diagnostic services such as OCT’s and visual fields as required
  • Detection of ophthalmic pathology in patients referred to the Eye Department and to direct such patients for appropriate treatment.

Essential Criteria:

Candidates must:

  • Be registered, or be eligible for registration, as an Optometrist in the Optometrist Register with the Optical Registration Board at CORU.
  • Have a minimum of 5 years post registration experience.
  • Have experience of practice in relevant fields relating to patient management.
  • Have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and management ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
