This is a 30 hour 2 year fixed term contract currently.

A panel may be formed as a result of this campaign for IHA Galway/ Roscommon & IHA Mayo from which current and future permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full or part time duration may be filled.

The panels formed from these interviews may be used to fill unfilled post across other IHA

areas should the arise.

Purpose of the Post:

The Nursing Clinical Placement Coordinator (CPC)

• Will guide and support pre-registration student nurses in accordance with the NMBI Nurse Registration Programmes Standards and Requirements 2025

• Ensure that the clinical placement meets the requirements of the education programme.

• Ensure that the Competency Assessment Document is completed in accordance with NMBI Nurse Registration Programmes Standards and Requirements (2025)

The main responsibilities are quality assurance, resource management, supernumerary student nurse staffing and staff development, practice development, facilitating communication and professional / clinical leadership.

• Work as part of the Nurse Practice Development team on the development, review and implementation of PUH’s PPPG’s and service or quality improvement projects.

• Promote preceptorship amongst staff and CNM2s in a clinical placement area. This includes supporting preceptors in their role.

• Support the student, preceptor and CNM with any underperformance and the initiation of learning support / performance improvement plans.

• Ensure there is a quality clinical learning environment for all undergraduate student nurses.
