Purpose of the Role
The purpose of this post is to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of an evidenced based, person centred, quality nutrition and dietetics service to the Gastroenterology service in CHI. This service covers the sub-specialities of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Intestinal Rehabilitation and Nutrition Support.
The post holder will work in conjunction with other team members within the Nutrition and Dietetics Department and the Gastroenterology Department in co-ordinating and developing the service to meet the needs of the population it serves in line with the objectives of the organisation / best practice recommendations.
The post holder will carry out clinical, educational and administrative duties as required. They will act as a resource and provide expert opinion, advice and guidance to nutrition and dietetics colleagues and other healthcare professionals.
This role will provide leadership to the team of Senior and Staff Grade Dietitians working in Gastroenterology across CHI.
They will liaise closely with their multidisciplinary colleagues working in this area to develop the service in line with best practice. The post-holder will also provide nutrition and dietetic support and education to the children and young adults who access the Gastroenterology service.
Essential Criteria:
· Applicants must be registered as a Dietitian by the Dietitians Registration Board at CORU
AND
· Have 5 years’ full time (or an aggregate of five years) post qualification dietetic experience of which 4 years full time (or an aggregate of four years) must be consecutive in paediatric Gastroenterology.
· Demonstrate a proven record of clinical excellence in paediatric Gastroenterology.
· Applicants must demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development relevant to paediatric dietetics / Gastroenterology.
· Applicants must demonstrate achievement in the areas of clinical audit, quality improvement initiatives, practice development, teaching and research.
· Applicants must have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability, management, leadership and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
