Clinical Specialist In Paediatric Physiotherapist Neurosciences
Purpose of the Role
Professional Duties and Responsibilities:
- To Develop Active Clinical Prioritisation / Triage processes in conjunction with the Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon within Spina Bifida.
- Oversee & provide guidance for the effective management of physiotherapy Neurosciences waiting lists in line with agreed targets.
- Be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, formulation of problem lists and treatment plans and discharge planning for each patient in a way that demonstrates advanced clinical reasoning and knowledge with due regard for Physiotherapy professional standards, as outlined by CORU & the ISCP
- Demonstrate evidence-based practice through the process of clinical reasoning and decision making and applying it to complex cases
- Maintain clinical expertise an up-to-date knowledge of research findings and new practices within the area of specialism through regular continuing professional development and applying this knowledge to improve practice and progress service development.
- Development, management and evaluation (quarterly) of the Neurosciences service provided in accordance with professional standards and in consultation and by agreement with the manager or his/her deputy
- Represent the Neurosciences team within the Physiotherapy Department
- Participate in the wider Neurosciences Service, including development of care pathways for specific pathologies and particular groups of patients
- Lead and collaborate in the strategic plannihe post holder will be expected to live CHI values and be child-centered, compassionate, progressive and will act with respect, excellence and integrity.
- Shared overarching responsibility for and leadership of the Neurosciences Physiotherapy team incorporating but not limited to Spina Bifida, Neurosurgery, Neurology, Neurodisability, Neonatology, Metabolics and General Paediatrics, which includes all aspects of the patient journey from initial diagnosis / post-operative management, through the acute rehabilitation phase to discharge, regardless of length of stay.
- Lead and guide the Neurosciences physiotherapy team in collaboration with other Clinical Specialists through all aspects of that service, delegating and allocating priority caseloads where appropriate.
Essential Criteria:
- Hold a Physiotherapy qualification recognised by the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU – candidates must state CORU registration number on application.
and
- All candidates must have five years full time (or equivalent) years’ post-qualification clinical experience of which three years are in the area of Paediatric Neurosciences.
- Strong clinical background in Paediatric Neurodisability
- All candidates must demonstrate evidence of recent formal continuing professional development relevant to this role eg: post-graduate qualifications or relevant courses.
