• 1.0 WTE (35 hours per week)
• Temporary Specified purpose duration contract (12 months approx.)

• Based in Harold’s Cross

The Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist will work in conjunction with the Occupational Therapist Manager in ensuring the coordination, development and delivery of a quality, evidence based, client-centred Occupational Therapy Service to meet the needs of the service user group and the objectives of the organisation.

The successful candidate will be an expert clinical resource for the multidisciplinary team and will provide clinical leadership, drive service development initiatives, and supervise Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy Assistants, and students to maintain the highest standards of clinical excellence.

* In the context of this job description Older Person Services refers to the services in both Anna Gaynor House, Community Reablement Unit (CRU) and older persons outpatient services. The remit of the Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist will include any service developments within Older Persons Services in OLH&CS over time.

Essential Requirements (These criteria are as per the Statutory Registration, Professional Qualifications, and Experience criteria for Occupational Therapist, Clinical Specialist Grade Code 3824 by the HSE - 25th October 2018).

1.Statutory Registration, Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc

Candidates for appointment must:

• Be registered, or be eligible for registration, on the Occupational Therapists register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU.(https://www.coru.ie/)
• Have five years full time (or equivalent) years post qualification clinical experience of which four years full time (or equivalent) must be consecutive in the required area of specialism.
• Demonstrate a proven record of clinical experience.

2.Professional Development and Practice

• Candidates must demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development relevant to the required area of specialism, in the form of post-graduate qualifications or relevant courses.
• Candidates must demonstrate achievement in the areas of clinical audit, quality improvement initiatives, practice development, teaching and research.
• Have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability, management, leadership and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
• Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Occupational Therapists Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU before a contract of employment can be issued.

3.Annual registration

• On appointment practitioners must maintain annual registration on the Occupational Therapists Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU.
• Practitioners must confirm annual registration with CORU to the HSE by way of the annual Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC).

4.Health

• Candidates for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

5.Character

• Candidates for and any person holding the office must be of good character.
