Cloud DBA

Job Description

Primary purpose of this Cloud DBA is to collaborate with Cloud Engineering, Data, Digital and Development team to participate in database design and development. Cloud DBA will assume the role to administer cloud databases using cloud tools with strong emphasis on security, compliance, cost and performance.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain cloud-based database systems like Azure SQL Database or similar services
• Ensure high availability, performance, and security of database systems.
• Monitor database performance and optimize queries for efficiency.
• Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies.
• Collaborate with development teams to design and optimize database schemas.
• Automate routine database tasks using scripting and cloud-native tools.
• Monitoring and optimizing resource usage to manage cloud expenses.
• Implementing cloud-native security measures (e.g., IAM roles, encryption at rest and transit, security groups).
• Ensuring the database environment meets industry and legal compliance standards (e.g., GDPR
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues.
• Stay up to date with the latest cloud database technologies and best practices.

Qualifications

• 3+ Years of cloud database management experience with proven record.
• Proven experience as a Database Administrator (DBA) or Developer in a cloud environment.
• Strong knowledge of cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS or Google Cloud.
• Proficiency in SQL and experience with database management systems like MySQL, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server.
• Experience with cloud-native database services (e.g., Azure SQL Database).
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).
• Knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Knowledge of Agile and DevOps.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
•  Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Certification in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS Certified Database - Specialty, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate).
