Job Purpose:

The function of the Clinical Nurse Manager 1 is to develop, maintain, and evaluate an environment that supports the new John Sullivan floor Respiratory floor in the Rock wing.

The CNM 1 will collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to provide and maintain patient safety and care to the highest standard at the Mater Misericodia University Hospital (MMUH).

Qualifications & Experience:-

Candidates must:-

  • Be a Registered General Nurse on the live register of nurses maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland or eligible to be registered.
  • Have a minimum of 5 years post registration experience, 2 of which should be in the specialist area of Respiratory Nursing.
  • Post registration course in Respiratory desirable but not essential
  • A management course essential or commitment to undertake same within one year of appointment to the post.
  • Computer skills essential.
  • Demonstrate practical experience of teaching, assessing and evaluating in the clinical area essential.
  • Display evidence of continuing professional development.

Job Summary:

  • To manage John Sullivan Respiratory Floor to support patients, relatives and staff through the provision of clinical, managerial and educational excellence.
  • To work in partnership with all staff members including the Directorate Nurse Manager, CNM3, CNM 2, Director of Nursing, Clinical Director /Specialty Consultants and the inter/trans-disciplinary teams to maintain , develop and improve patient centered, quality, safe care.
  • To play a pivotal role in the co-ordination and management of activity and resources.
  • To support the nursing expanding role to become more expert, competent reflective practitioners developing skills to meet patients’ needs and co-ordinate the acute service with nurse specialists/practitioners.
  • To adhere and maintain organisation of Directorate, Nursing Metrics and KPI’s
