The Oncology Day Unit of Tipperary University Hospital is a Satellite Service from the South East Cancer Centre, University Hospital Waterford.
The service operates Monday to Friday only.
An Oncologist and team from UHW attend once a week. During this day
- An Out-Patient Clinic is held within the unit for new and review patients.
- Current Unit caseload and capacity is reviewed
- Team meetings are held for patients currently undergoing treatment but not attending clinic to enable clinical decisions for ongoing management
Services on the other 4 days include but are not limited to
- Counselling and educating patients prior to commencing treatments
- Administration of systemic and oral Anti-Cancer Treatments and supportive therapies
The Oncology Day Unit is currently staffed by two Oncology CNSs, with staff nurse support. Total staffing 3.5 WTE.
