Role Introduction:

Established in 1992, Applegreen is a leading convenience roadside retailer in the Republic of Ireland, the UK and the US in both large-scale Motorway Service Areas and Travel Plazas, as well as smaller petrol stations. The business has grown to over €3BN in annual revenue, operating 600 Motorway Service Plazas and forecourt sites internationally and employing over 16,000 people.

Applegreen is in a rapid growth phase and to support this ambitious growth, we are seeking to onboard a Commercial Analytics & Data Insights Manager who will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering our group-wide data strategy This role will form part of the Group Commercial team and reports to the Group Head of Commercial Analytics & Data Insights. The successful candidate will lead the development of consistent, actionable insights that drive commercial performance across our three core regions. This role is ideal for a commercially minded analytical leader who thrives in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment and is passionate about turning data into actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities:

As Applegreen expands, the responsibilities will evolve and change over time. The core responsibilities will centre around the following areas:

Data Governance & KPI Stewardship

  • Own and evolve the group-wide KPI framework, ensuring consistency, clarity, and alignment across all regions.
  • Champion data governance practices, including metric definitions and data lineage.
  • Partner with regional teams to embed standardised reporting and ensure adoption of group metrics.

Stakeholder Engagement & Insight Translation

  • Act as a strategic partner to senior commercial stakeholders, translating business goals into analytical frameworks and dashboards.
  • Lead the design and delivery of insight products that inform decision-making at all levels—from C-suite to operational leads.
  • Drive the narrative behind the numbers, ensuring insights are accessible, relevant, and actionable.

Operational Excellence in Insight Delivery

  • Oversee the delivery of repeatable, scalable insight solutions across the group.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of Power BI dashboards and tools that support day-to-day and strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure insight delivery is timely, accurate, and aligned with business priorities.

Project Ownership & Strategic Analytics

  • Lead high-impact, cross-functional analytics initiatives that support strategic priorities such as customer insight, pricing, and performance optimisation.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of analytics projects—from scoping and stakeholder alignment to delivery and impact measurement.
  • Contribute to the evolution of our Universal Data Platform and Group Reporting Taskforce initiatives.

The Candidate should have the following:

  • The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of professional experience, including 5+ years in commercial analytics and 3+ years in people or project leadership roles, preferably in a multi-region or retail environment.
  • Deep expertise in BI tools (Power BI essential) and advanced Excel modelling.
  • Comprehensive understanding of data governance, KPI frameworks, and reporting best practices.
  • Proven ability to lead complex, cross-functional projects and to influence executive-level stakeholders.
  • Strategically minded with a deep understanding of how data drives business performance and growth.
  • Ability to operate efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Leadership & Communication

  • Seasoned leader with extensive experience in managing and developing high-performing teams, with minimum 3 years people management experience.
  • Excellent communicator—able to distil complex data into compelling insights and influence at all levels.
  • Adept at driving clarity through structured insight and strategic narratives.
