ROI Commercial Finance Analyst

Role Introduction:

Established in 1992, Applegreen is a leading convenience roadside retailer in the Republic of Ireland, the UK and the US in both large-scale Motorway Service Areas and Travel Plazas, as well as smaller petrol stations. The business has grown to over €3BN in annual revenue, operating 600 Motorway Service Plazas and forecourt sites internationally and employing over 17,000 people.

Applegreen is in a rapid growth phase and to support this ambitious growth, we are seeking to onboard a Commercial Finance Analyst to join our team.

This role will form part of the ROI Commercial Finance team and reports to Commercial Finance Manager. The successful candidate will be a confident people person who can fit into Applegreenseamlessly and adopt a hands-on approach to their role.

Key Responsibilities:

As Applegreen expands, the responsibilities will evolve and change over time. The core responsibilities will centre around the following areas:

  • Supporting continuous improvement of key reporting processes working on standardising and streamlining monthly reporting across all areas of the business
  • Consolidate, analyse and interpret management accounts ensuring information is accurate and provides insight to senior management around business performance
  • Assist with developing and maintaining investment committee models, incorporating key performance indicators (KPIs), projected returns, and sensitivity analysis to support decision-making along with contributing to investment committee presentations.
  • Monitor and track approved investments, conducting post-investment appraisals and escalating underperformance where necessary.
  • Budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning processes, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and financial targets.
  • Preparing commercial sales reports and sales dashboards for key stakeholders in the business to facilitate decision-making ensuring accuracy and integrity of data
  • Support executive and leadership meeting agendas including presentation material, analyses and support
  • Aiding in process of consolidating information from the finance teams prior to BRM Meetings
  • Supporting ROI commercial finance teams with analysis, reporting and other work in times of high demand
  • Developing relationships with key stakeholders in ROI Finance particularly with management accounting and fuel accounting teams

The Candidate should have the following:

Qualifications, experience & skills

  • Be a qualified ACA Accountant, top 10 trained.
  • Newly qualified to 1 year post qualification experience
  • Strong academics, Accounting related Degree or Masters
  • SAP and Oracle EPM experience preferred
  • Power BI experience preferred
  • Experience in a PLC environment preferred
  • High proficiency in all Microsoft Office software also essential (Excel, PPT).
