Commercial QEHS Manager
Activ8 Solar Energies are actively seeking an experienced Commercial QEHS Manager to join our growing Commercial team here in Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan. It’s a full-time permanent position inclusive of salary, bonus, company vehicle, pension, healthcare and additional benefits. This leadership role is key to ensuring our health, safety, quality, and environmental management systems are effectively maintained, continually improved, and fully aligned with our commercial objectives.

The Opportunity:
As Commercial QEHS Manager, you will oversee QEHS strategies and implementation plans across our commercial solar projects, ensuring compliance, risk management, and excellence in delivery. The Commercial QEHS Manager will also play a vital role in pre-qualification processes, tender submissions, and the integration of QEHS considerations into all commercial and contractual activities.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop, implement, and maintain QEHS Management Systems in line with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.
- Prepare and oversee QEHS strategies and implementation plans for multiple projects.
- Champion a strong health, safety, and environmental culture across all company operations.
- Lead and mentor QEHS Officers and project teams to ensure compliance and best practice.
- Oversee the preparation and submittal of QEHS Pre-Qualification documentation and tender responses for commercial bids.
- Ensure QEHS risks, costs, and mitigation measures are identified and integrated into commercial proposals.
- Liaise with clients and contractors to ensure alignment on QEHS and contractual requirements.
- Supervise the preparation and development of construction stage QEHS documentation for all projects.
- Conduct and review site audits, inspections, and risk assessments, ensuring timely corrective actions.
- Ensure plant, equipment, and contractor compliance with statutory and company obligations.
- Support project managers, colleagues, and subcontractors with QEHS and commercial advice throughout the project lifecycle.
- Deliver induction programs, toolbox talks, and ongoing training to promote awareness and accountability.
- Analyse QEHS performance data, identify trends, and implement improvement strategies.
- Manage incident investigations, root cause analysis, and follow-up actions.
- Report QEHS and commercial performance metrics to senior management.
- Drive initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, reduce risks, and ensure compliance across all projects.
Qualifications:
- Relevant degree, diploma or qualification in Occupational Health & Safety.
- 5+ years’ experience in a QEHS or HSE management role, preferably within solar, renewable energy, or construction sectors.
- Ability to demonstrate strong ownership, making informed decisions independently and drive tasks to completion.
- Experience working as PSCS or PSDP under Irish construction regulations is desirable but not necessary.
- Strong understanding of ISO management systems and associated audit processes.
- Proven ability to manage QEHS within commercial and project delivery environments.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with QEHS reporting and data analysis tools.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement safety plans and risk management frameworks for large-scale commercial projects.
- Valid driver’s license and flexibility to travel across Ireland.
