Communications Coordinator: Press & Advertising
The Gallery wishes to recruit a full-time Communications Coordinator: Press & Advertising as part of the Communications, Marketing & Digital Engagement team (CMDE). The purpose of this role is to coordinate and deliver external and internal digital communications campaigns for the Gallery, its programming and its staff.
Reporting to the Communications, Marketing & Digital Engagement Manager (or nominated deputy), the successful applicant will:
- Help to plan and implement annual press release and advertising calendars
- Promote the Gallery through various communications campaigns
- Publicise the Gallery’s programs – including approximately ten exhibitions per year – through broadcast, print, and online outlets
- Write and distribute engaging press releases
- Devise and execute tailored pitches for media outlets
- Manage relationships with journalists and media stakeholders
- Develop and coordinate press and promotional events, and identify new media opportunities
- Manage the recording of press coverage results and create press reports on campaigns
- Collaborate with colleagues on CMDE team plans and activities
- Work proactively with the Gallery’s PR consultants on selected exhibitions and campaigns
- Liaise with other Gallery departments on compiling press releases and advertising
- Support internal communications via the intranet
- Administer media queries, and undertake other duties as assigned by line management.
The successful candidate will have:
- A third-level qualification in a related field
- Previous experience working in Public Relations (PR) and Communications
- A knowledge of the media landscape in Ireland
- Excellent writing skills and the ability to create engaging and dynamic content
- An ability to work on own initiative and as part of an effective team
- Excellent organisational, planning and administrative skills and ability to multi-task and good attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to deal diplomatically with a wide range of people at varying levels inside and outside the Gallery
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise a heavy workload often to demanding deadlines
- Proficient IT (Microsoft) skills with relevant knowledge of marketing, digital and social media
- An enthusiasm and interest for working at the Gallery and a willingness to contribute to a positive working environment

Citizenship Requirements
Eligible candidates must be:
1. A citizen of the European Economic Area (EEA). The EEA consists of the Member States of the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway; or
2. A citizen of the United Kingdom (UK); or
3. A citizen of Switzerland, pursuant to the agreement between the EU and Switzerland on the free movement of persons; or
4. A non-EEA citizen who has a Stamp 4 permission or a Stamp 5 permission.
Please note: A 50 TEU permission, which serves as a replacement for Stamp 4EUFAM after Brexit, is considered equivalent to Stamp 4.

Grade and Salary:
The salary for this position will be in accordance with the Executive Officer (PPC) pay scale, as per the 1 March 2025 pay adjustments. The salary scale for this position is as follows:
€37,544.00 €39,465.00 €40,550.00 €42,667.00 €44,564.00 €46,400.00 €48,229.00 €50,019.00 €51,848.00 €53,670.00 €55,604.00 €56,900.00 €58,748.00¹ €60,610.00²
- The starting salary will be at the first point on the scale, €37,544.00 per annum, or on a higher point of the scale, as appropriate to the successful candidate, if appointed from an existing public sector role (in accordance with Circular 08/2019).
- Candidates should note the National Gallery of Ireland complies with Department of Public Expenditure and Reform regulations and guidelines on Public Service pay and conditions of employment.
Annual Leave:The successful candidate will be entitled to 23 days of annual leave pro rata
Superannuation: The successful candidate will be placed on the public sector pension scheme.
Benefits:The Gallery provides staff the opportunity to participate in the tax saver and cycle to work schemes.
Duration: Permanent
Working hours: Full time, 5 days a week – 35 hours per week (net of breaks). Please note, flexibility is required and the successful candidate will be required to work occasional early mornings, late evenings and weekends.
