Communications Officer
The Purpose of the Role
The School of Law welcomes applications from candidates with demonstrated excellence in communications. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, creative and motivated communications professional to play a key role in telling our story to key stakeholders (students, academics and legal professionals) and members of the public. S/he/they will be responsible for the delivery of the School’s digital, print presences. The post-holder will be responsible for managing how we communicate with our audiences and present ourselves to the public. The successful post-holder will work closely with key members of the School and will work alongside a dedicated and dynamic professional support team.

The School of Law at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland’s oldest and highest-ranking law school, is embarking on an exciting period of growth and expansion. As part of our development, we are looking to enhance our visibility, reputation and relationship with our key audiences. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced Communications Officer to play a key role in the continued success and visibility of our leading law school.

The School is home to the Trinity Centre for Constitutional Law and Governance (TriCON), a centre dedicated to advancing research, teaching, and public engagement in constitutional law and governance, both in Ireland and globally. The School plans to establish further research centres over the next three years. The Communications Officer will play a critical role the promotion of these centres and the School’s mission of fostering academic discourse and engagement with legal professionals and the broader community, both nationally and globally.
The School hosts regular CPD events and guest lectures, including the prestigious annual Irish Supreme Court Review. These activities serve as a key platform for disseminating legal updates and research findings. Our ambitious development plan will entail the expansion of CPD initiatives to include the introduction and development of micro-credential and professional diploma programmes.
As part of a dynamic team, the Communications Officer will be central to the planning, organisation, and promotion of our story and activities, ensuring they are aligned with the School's strategic objectives and contribute to its reputation as a leading institution in legal education and research. Main Responsibilities
The successful candidate’s main responsibilities will include:
Digital Presence
• Ensure the School’s digital presence is aligned to our strategic objectives;
• Lead on the implementation and maintenance of the School’s digital presence; including but not limited to:
o Act as the primary contact for all staff, students and external stakeholders on matters related to the School’s digital platforms (including Facebook, Linkedin, Instagram);
o Create, coordinate and source error free, engaging and compelling content for the School’s social media channels, and website, ensuring efficient and regular release of same.
o Ensure stakeholder/partner content is shared, in real time insofar as possible;
• Actively manage and update the School’s website:
o assume responsibility for chief copywriter for digital content
o engage with all stakeholders to ensure relevant and up-to-date information is released in a timely manner;
o ensure dynamic web presence;
o ensure error free, accessible and relevant content.
• Track, measure and analyse performance of digital campaigns;
• Generate regular reports and KPIs (reach, engagement, impressions) and recommend improvements and insights in order to optimize returns;
• Media management of events, working closely alongside the Events Officer;
• Manage working relations with key College stakeholders, including Global and Marketing, Academic Registry.
Print Presence
• Lead on the development and creation of all print outputs for the School, ensuring compliance with College branding. Print outputs include, but are not limited to:
o programme prospectuses;
o event brochures;
o posters;
o image content and layout for all inhouse publications.

Other
• Coordinate and oversee the development of photo repository and archive for exclusive use in School print and digital media including:
o organisation of annual class photos;
o student photos and video testimonials;
o staff photos and video content
• Operational lead on the design and marketing of the School’s public engagement and continued professional development (CPD) programmes;
• Assist, when necessary, with general events in the School;
• Create copy-write/narrative for events to be included in all related digital and print promotional material;
• Create bespoke marketing strategies and campaigns for events;
• Provide, as needed, VLE, and virtual events support to the School.
Person Requirements
Qualifications
• Third level qualification (essential), other qualification or relevant experience in communications, public relations and social media (essential).
Knowledge & Experience (Essential & Desirable)
Essential:
• A minimum of at least 3-years relevant work experience, preferably including a communications and marketing environment; (Essential)
• Experience in content marketing and development across digital, social and traditional platforms; (Essential)
• Strong proficiency in social media platforms for professional purposes, including, but not limited to, Facebook, YouTube, Linkedin; (Essential)
• Ability to deliver communications campaigns, including writing impactful copy to engagement, reputation and organisational impact; (Essential)
• Create bespoke marketing strategies and campaigns for school activities and outreach; (Essential)
• Experience producing print content, layout and design (Essential);
• Experience using Terminal 4 and other web-content management systems; (Essential)
• Experience using Adobe Creative Suite/Cloud or other professional design packages; (Essential)
• Knowledge and experience of web analytics and search engine optimisation; (Essential)
• Experience of virtual event platforms (eg Zoom, Teams); (Essential)
Skills & Competencies
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
o Written communication: must have exceptional verbal written communications skill, must be able to create and source content and communicate clearly, concisely and error free;
o Oral communication: ability to communicate convincingly and confidently;
o Must have a welcoming, approachable manner and work well in a multicultural environment;
• Enthusiastic, flexible: this role will necessitate carrying out some duties outside normal office hours and successful candidate must be prepared to, when necessary work outside of core office hours;
• Resourceful: is highly motivated with a proven track record as someone capable of working on own initiative;
• Conscientious and detailed orientated; is accurate and attentive to detail.

• Team Player: must be friendly, and willing to work effectively as part of a team;
• Strong organisational skills;
• Project management skills: ability to prioritise and multi-task in a busy environment.
Note:
• This role is not eligible for an employment permit.
