The ASI is currently recruiting a Community Engagement Officer for our Community Engagement Service.

This is a remote, home-based role covering the Leinster region, specifically:

  • Carlow
  • Kilkenny
  • Laois
  • Offaly
  • Meath
  • Westmeath
  • Kildare
  • Louth

The successful candidate should be based in one of these counties, or nearby, and will be required to travel regularly across the region for meetings, events, and other activities.

Please note that, as per ASI hybrid working policy, the ASI does not support any employee working abroad or from any location outside their designated home office.

This is a 6-month fixed-term contract, working 35 hours per week.

The Community Engagement Officer's primary responsibility is to support the Community Engagement Programme in all elements of the implementation of the ASI's Community Engagement Strategy.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience working in a community engagement or comparable regional role.
  • A QQI Level 6 qualification and/or relevant experience in areas such as:

The successful candidate should also have:

  • Excellent English and telephone marketing skills.
  • Knowledge and experience of applying for funding.
  • An understanding of dementia and related issues.

The successful candidate must hold a full, clean driving licence and have access to their own vehicle, as driving across multiple counties is an essential part of this role.

Salary will be commensurate with the charity sector and dependent on relevant experience.

JOB PURPOSE

To work across communities to deliver the Alzheimer Society of Ireland's Community Engagement Programmes in line with the strategy of the organisation.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIESCommunity Engagement
  • Support the Community Engagement Programme in all elements of the implementation of the ASI's Community Engagement Strategy.
  • Identify opportunities to roll out community engagement programmes across your region, including:
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and marketing skills with the ability to engage with:
  • Build a strong community response and support network.
  • Play a key role within the Community Engagement Team as an effective team player.
  • Provide support for larger events in other areas where necessary.
  • Create and post social media content following events across various platforms.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations as required.
  • Assist in organising promotional events and traditional or digital campaigns and attend them to facilitate their success.
  • Work within ASI policies and procedures.
Administration

Each Community Engagement Officer will be responsible for the administrative tasks associated with programmes in their designated area, including:

  • Creating regular reports and updates to inform the Community Engagement Manager on progress and implementation.
  • Conducting market research and analysing participation ratings, reports, and questionnaires.
  • Maintaining and ensuring the CRM system is up to date.
  • Maintaining all activity data, ensuring it is current and stored confidentially.
  • Keeping all files organised and up to date in compliance with GDPR.

The principal accountabilities outlined above describe the main duties of the role. However, in an organisation such as the Society, additional tasks may arise that do not fall within the above list of duties.

Employees are therefore required to adopt a flexible approach when tasks arise that are not specifically covered in their job description. Should any additional responsibility become a regular part of an employee's role, the job description will be amended accordingly.

JOB HOLDER ENTRY REQUIREMENTSKnowledge (Education & Related Experience)
  • QQI Level 6 qualification in a relevant field such as:
  • Or relevant experience in a similar role.

Essential:

  • Strong planning and organisational skills.
  • Knowledge and experience of applying for funding grants.
  • Experience using and creating content for social media channels, including:

  • High regard for and practice of good health and safety procedures at all times.
  • Ability to be innovative and creative and promote an environment of change and continuous improvement.
  • Understanding of and empathy towards the impact of dementia on people's lives.

Desirable:

  • WordPress or other website experience.
  • Experience in Marketing and Communications.
  • Experience in project management and development.
