Community Volunteer Project Officer (Part-time, Fixed-Term Contract)
The Position
Meath Partnership is seeking an enthusiastic and community focused professional to join Meath Volunteer Centre as a Community Volunteer Project Officer. This role will play a key part in supporting the delivery of the Meath Community Volunteers Programme through the recruitment, coordination and support of volunteers participating in local initiatives across Co. Meath.
The successful candidate will work closely with volunteers, community groups, agencies and local stakeholders to strengthen civic participation, social inclusion and community engagement. The post requires excellent relationship building skills, strong organisational ability and a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for collaboration and programme development.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in local communities while helping to promote volunteering, participation and belonging across the county.
Key Accountabilities
Reporting to the Centre Manager, the Community Volunteer Project Officer will be responsible for:
1. Volunteer Coordination and Support
- Coordinating the recruitment, induction, training and supervision of volunteers participating in the Meath Community Volunteers Programme.
- Providing ongoing support, guidance and mentorship to volunteers to help ensure a positive, inclusive and rewarding volunteering experience.
- Organising and supporting volunteer participation in local community initiatives, events and activities across Co. Meath.
- Supporting volunteers to engage confidently and effectively in projects that promote community participation and inclusion.
2. Community Engagement and Partnership Development
- Developing and maintaining positive working relationships with community groups, statutory agencies, Volunteer Involving Organisations and other relevant stakeholders.
- Identifying opportunities for collaboration and supporting the development of new partnerships that enhance the reach and impact of the Community Volunteers Programme.
- Working with local organisations and networks to identify community needs and opportunities for meaningful volunteer engagement.
- Promoting the values of volunteering, active citizenship and social inclusion through local engagement and outreach activity.
3. Programme Delivery, Events and Promotion
- Organising information sessions, workshops, social activities and other events to support volunteer engagement, learning and community belonging.
- Assisting with the planning and delivery of community based initiatives and events involving volunteers.
- Developing promotional materials and contributing to social media and communications activity to highlight volunteer opportunities, community initiatives and programme achievements.
- Working collaboratively with the wider Volunteer Centre team to advance the aims and mission of Meath Volunteer Centre through community focused projects and initiatives.
- 4. Administration, Monitoring and Reporting
- Maintaining accurate volunteer records and managing relevant databases, including the Community Volunteers CRM system.
- Monitoring and evaluating volunteer participation and programme outcomes to support reporting, learning and continuous improvement.
- Completing all associated administrative duties in a timely, accurate and organised manner.
- Contributing to reporting requirements and programme reviews as required.

Educational Qualification or Professional Attainment
Possession of a relevant educational or professional qualification and/or experience relevant to Community Development, Social Work, Volunteer Management, Non-profit Management, or a related discipline.
Essential Knowledge and Experience
- Proven experience in volunteer management, community engagement or a related field.
- Experience in project delivery, event coordination or community based programme. implementation.
- Ability to develop partnerships and identify opportunities for collaboration.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, including the ability to work to deadlines.
- High levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
- IT literacy, including CRM systems and Microsoft Office.
- Self-motivated and capable of independently delivering work plans and objectives.
- Solution oriented, dynamic and results driven in approach.
- A full driving licence and access to own transport.
- Desirable Skills, Abilities and Experience
- Qualification in Social Work, Community Development, Non-profit Management, or a related field.
- Strong commitment to social inclusion, diversity and community participation.
- Experience in managing sensitive and confidential information.
- Experience working with volunteers, community groups or disadvantaged communities.
- Understanding of the voluntary and community sector in County Meath would be an advantage.
Terms of Employment
One part time, fixed term position is available, working 18.75 hours (2.5 days) per week.
The role will require some evening and occasional weekend work. A full driving licence and access to own transport is essential due to the outreach services associated with the position. This post may be subject to Garda Vetting in line with Meath Partnerships policy.
Duration
This is a fixed-term contract concluding on the 31 st December 2026. Any extension to the contract of employment will be subject to the availability of funding.
Location
Successful candidates will be based in Meath Partnership’s Head Offices, located at Units J & K, Kells Business Park, Cavan Road, Kells, County Meath.

Salary
This post is aligned to the Project Officer salary scale. The starting salary range for this appointment is €38,500.00 - €42,069.99 per annum (Points 1-4). Appointment will normally be made at Point 1 of the scale. Placement above Point 1 may be considered, in accordance with the Organisation’s Salary Scales Policy and having regard to directly relevant experience, specialist skills and qualifications.
Leave
The annual leave entitlement is twenty (20) days per annum, pro-rata for shorter periods.
Entitlement to leave for Public Holidays is in accordance with the terms of the Organisation of Working Time Act 1997. Meath Partnership closes for five (5) days at Christmas; this time is additional to the annual leave entitlement detailed above.
